I am endlessly inspired by trees and nature in my work. I use paint, mixed media and digital montage to explore the visible and invisible realms of the woodland landscape.
I work intuitively, abstractly, using multiple layers to create a sense of mystery. My work explores what is beneath, beyond or in between shape and form.
The woods are filled with the sound of the wind, rustling leaves and creaking branches, shadow patterns, and shifting sunlight filtering through the great veil. I try to evoke these feelings of being within the woodland environment at different times of day or night, playing with perspective and pattern perceived above and below.
“The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing which stands in the way. ... But to the eyes of the man of imagination, Nature is Imagination itself.’ – William Blake
