Sue Dewhurst Contemporary Art t/a Oriel Haywire
Gallery
Details
Artist Sue Dewhurst opened Oriel Haywire as a base for her Rural Lives collection of paintings, prints and cards celebrating farming with bold depictions of agricultural heritage, barns and livestock.
Additionally the gallery houses the Owd Lasses Boudoir dedicated to the cheeky vignettes Sue paints of older women loosely based on her octogenarian Mum and friends. Don't think these are cute grannies who knit they are more likely to offer you a tip on the 2.30 at Kempton Park.
Sue's partner Dave Parry is a green wood worker and the gallery is showcase to his carvings as well as a carefully curated selection of jewellery, ceramics, fused glass, upcycled art and pewter that Sue has collated during her years as a gallery buyer and arts professional working around the UK.
The space offers 'creative happenings', an ongoing Cartoon Relay for people to add to which Sue intends to publish, art kits for visitors to hire so they can capture Llandysul's charms and post an art card back home and a rolling workshop programme.
